I really enjoyed “The Guide”. I’m not a big fiction reader but I really connected with
the charactors. All men who love to hunt or not will enjoy this book. This would make a good Fathers Day gift. Looking forward to the next book!

I decided to go over and read some of the excerpts from the book. Having spent a number of years in northeast Georgia and canoed down part of the river it really struck a chord with me. Looks really good.

  3. thanks Jeff. Yeah, I have rafted down the Ocoee & Nantahala Rivers. The Flint River in Georgia. So I took those experiences and used them for the book.

I didn’t even know you had been writing a book! Guess I have been living under a rock around here. I am so excited for you! I would love a chance to win and if I don’t win, I will just buy all three things! My favorite charity is ALS Association of GA (http://webga.alsa.org/site/PageServer?pagename=GA_homepage) My father passed away from this dreadful disease 6 years ago. I look forward to reading your book!

    • Thanks Christy for checking it out. I’ve attempted to do creative stuff and this is the first time I’ve really tried to promote something I’ve created. I’m not a in-the-spotlight kind of guy so promotion has been even more challenging than actually writing the book.

thanks again, and good luck on the contest.

Hi Scott, this is a great idea. I would love to win your book. My favorite charity where I volunteer twice a week is Saddle Up, a therapeutic riding program for children with disabilities. I just love working with the children and spending time there. Good luck with your book.

    • Sibyl … thanks for checking this out. Sounds like a wonderful program. My daughter has a horse and she volunteers for a horse camp in the summer time. It sounds like they do something very similar to what you describe.

    Hi there,

Linked from 48Days.net. Congratulations on publishing your book!

The charity I contribute to is United Way.

  7. Bob Lutz says:

Inspiring. I love the outdoors and appreciate the meaning thatyou give to it in your excerpts.
We give regularly to our church, the American Heart Association, and help with missionaries

  8. Scott,

I saw your post at 48Days.net…looks like an interesting book. But the big surprise is that the pen is personally hand-crafted. Way cool!

I’m supporting a charity that serves the people of Liberia called BESTWA. My friend (and fellow 48Days.net member) Andy Perkins runs it. Their website is http://www.BESTWA.org.

    All the best!

    James

  9. I checked out the website. What a wonderful ministry! Sounds like he is carrying out a huge helping hand to the Liberian people. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Scott–I am really enjoying reading the ebook version of The Guide. This is quite an endorsement of the story because I typically do not read novels. I’ve read over half of it and have become engrossed in sharing the experience with the protagonist. I think it would be great to have an autographed copy of the hardcopy.

My wife and I serve on the board of the Jefferson County chapter of the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund. The fund provides resources to help deserving students become positive contributors within the community. We share our time and our financial resources in order to help raise funds for this worthwhile cause.

  11. Henry – great to hear from you. I keep your book on my desk at work and read a chapter each day. It’s been very inspiring. You are very insightful with God’s Word.

Thanks for sharing about your cause. A great way to support those students and their community.

  12. My favorite charity is the local humane society. And, it’s a family affair! My wife serves on their board, and we both volunteer for fundraisers and such.

  13. Thank you for sharing. I have a friend who serves the local humane society in our community. Great organization and great cause!

It’s always refreshing to see christian fiction being published, and when you throw the outdoor experience in there, well that’s just great! God Bless. Let’s look to the Lord, from where I help comes from.

  15. Thanks Jimmy. For years, I thought I would write a non-fiction book. But with this book, it was my humble attempt to share God in a unique way. It was also an opportunity to share experiences I and others have faced and have overcome through our faith in the Almighty. Thanks for stopping by.
