Goal-Setting vs. Intentional Living

Do you have a book buried inside, waiting to get out onto paper?  What about that hunting trip out west—the one you talk about taking with your son?  What about the mission trip opportunity that comes around every summer?  I’m sure each person faces a similar question and wonders, “how do I accomplish those things God has place on my heart?”

For years, I dreamed about writing a book.  I finally realized it would not happen, unless I became intentional.  Few things important in your life will happen without intentionality—and, of course, God’s help.  You must set goals and deliberately strive to fulfill those goals.  I set a goal to write and self-publish a novel, and three years later, I have accomplished that goal.  You can accomplish your dreams, those passions God gave you.  You CAN!

I recently read an article by Kent Julian called, Goal-Setting that Actually Works!  Kent is the moderator for a writing forum, which I joined last year.  He speaks about being intentional versus just setting goals.  He talks about time investment as opposed to time management.  Please take a minute and read his article.  Click here. If it helps you, please share it with a friend

Do you have some helpful advice on goal-setting or, should I say, intentional living?  Please share your comments.

Happy New Year and God bless you in 2011!
